Symbol Error Probability of Linearly Modulated Signals affected by Gaussian Interference in Rayleigh Fading Channels

چکیده
We present an analytical framework to evaluate the error probability, expressed in terms of symbol-error rate (SER) or bit-error rate (BER), of coherent detection schemes in the presence of additive interference and flat Rayleigh fading channels. This technical report assumes the useful signal and the interference impaired by the same fading channel, and the interference modelled as Gaussian at the decision variable. Applications of this analytical result include, but are not limited to, the performance evaluation of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems subject to non-linear amplifier distortions in frequency-selective channels and the performance evaluation of direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems in frequency-flat downlink channels.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
متن کاملProbability of Error of Linearly Modulated Signals with Gaussian Cochannel Interference in Maximally Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channels
We evaluate the probability of error of linearly modulated signals, such as phase-shift keying (PSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), in the presence of Gaussian cochannel interference (CCI) and Rayleigh fading channels. Specifically, we assume that the fading channel of the CCI is maximally correlated with the fading channel of the signal of interest (SOI). In practical applications,...
متن کاملTheoretical analysis and performance of OFDM signals in nonlinear fading channels
This paper presents an analytical framework to calculate the average symbol-error rate (SER) of uncoded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in realistic scenarios impaired by transmitter nonlinearity and frequency-selective fading channels. The results are applicable to cyclically extended OFDM signals characterized by a high number of carriers, which can be modeled as com...
متن کاملEnergy Detection of Unknown Signals over Composite multipath/shadowing Fading Channels
In this paper, the performance analysis of an energy detector is exploited over composite multipath/shadowing fading channels, which is modeled by Rayleigh-lognormal (RL) distribution. Based on an approximate channel model which was recently proposed by the author, the RL envelope probability density function (pdf) is approximated by a finite sum of weighted Rayleigh pdfs. Relying on this inter...
متن کاملPilot-Symbol-Aided 16PSK and 16QAM for Digital Land Mobile Radio Systems
The paper proposes a novel pilot-symbol-aided (PSA) technique for fading compensation of digital signals in the mobile environments. In a PSA system, the data sequence at the transmitter is divided into frames of data. A pilot symbol from a known pseudoradom-symbol sequence is inserted periodically into a frame of data symbol for transmission. In a conventional PSA-receiver, these pilot symbols...
